Unit 2: Life Science
This Week in Science:
We have begun our new unit on Life Science. Students will be learning about living vs. nonliving things. Students will learn that all living things need things to keep the alive. We will focus on the needs of plants and animals.Students will learn how plants and animals change the environment around them as they grow and change.
Students will learn about concepts of natural resources, how and why they are used. Students will also learn about what the three R's mean; reduce, reuse, recycle. Students will learn how they can use the three R's in their every day life to help the environment around them.

Unit 2: Communities and Community Helpers
This Week in Social Studies:
Students will begin learning about the three types of communities; Urban, Suburban and Rural. Students will learn what can be found in each, what attributes each type of community has and what type we all live in.
Students will learn about being a good citizen in their school and home communities. Students will then learn what types of community helpers are in our schools and neighborhoods to help us in our every day lives.
Students will be learning about the community helpers all around them. We will look at different types of communities and the helpers we can find in them that help us have good role models to look up to when we are practicing to be a good citizen. Students will learn about community helpers in our schools, homes, and neighborhoods.
